Apple Harvest Time at Kurn Hattin

September 18, 2014

Apple Harvest Time at Kurn Hattin

WESTMINSTER, VT—It is apple harvest time and the children at Kurn Hattin Homesconcluded the week learning about the apple growing and farming processes of their own orchards. Pulled by a tractor, the students headed out into the campus apple orchards on a country hayride to pick the many varieties of apples. Kurn Hattin’s orchard has approximately 80 trees with seven varieties. After apple picking, the children assisted thefarm manager in making and sampling fresh pressed cider. This is an annual tradition that everyone enjoys.

Established in 1894, Kurn Hattin Homes for Children is a charitable, year-round home and school for boys and girls, ages 6-15, who are affected by family tragedy and social or economic hardship. Kurn Hattin Homes transforms the lives of children and their families forever.
