SINCE 1894

Since 1894, Kurn Hattin has helped thousands of children and their families by offering a safe home and quality education in a nurturing environment.

Health Services

This is a home
Children live in small cottages, with a maximum of 11 children per cottage. Houseparents are on duty to provide a caring and structured home environment.
Kurn Hattin provides a safe, stable environment where, surrounded by caring adults, children receive the nurturing, consistency and structure they need to grow and thrive. Wholly dedicated to meeting these essential needs, Kurn Hattin staff create a warm, welcoming family atmosphere, where children feel a sense of belonging and form strong bonds with others through mutual trust, respect and cooperation.
Kurn Hattin's Health Services focuses on preventive care and health education. Our nursing staff provides care for common illnesses and injuries in the campus infirmary. A child's family continues to be responsible for regular physicals, eye and dental exams and immunizations.

Health education plays an important role in helping the children to understand the importance of staying healthy, happy, and respectful of their bodies. Program topics include nutrition, hygiene, fitness, injury prevention, as well as the “Think it Over Baby Program” for 8th-graders. These educational topics are invaluable to the future health and safety of the children. Other programs are included as appropriate and available. Please contact Eileen Brown, RN, Director of Health Services, with any questions.
