Kurn Hattin is recipient of Rite Aid KidCents Grant

Kurn Hattin is recipient of Rite Aid KidCents Grant

Westminster, VT – The Rite Aid Foundation took charitable giving to the next level by letting customers choose the charity they want to support through KidCents, Rite Aid’s in-store, round up program that supports nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the health and well-being of children. Members of the company’s wellness+program will now have the ability to designate their change to one of the 204 approved KidCents charities on www.kidcents.com.

Marking the occasion, Rite Aid presented $10,000 checks to each of the 204 inaugural KidCents charities, totaling over $2 million in donations. This initial group of KidCents charities was selected by Rite Aid associates across the country and is representative of all the communities the company serves. On September 17, Kurn Hattin Homes for Children’s Director of Development Kim Fine was presented with a $10,000 check at a celebration ceremony at the Rite Aid store in Bellows Falls. Managers and staff then joined Fine for lunch with the children at Kurn Hattin where a presentation of a big check was given. The children were thrilled. “We are excited to have been selected as an inaugural KidsCents charitable organization. Thank you Rite Aid and your customers throughout Vermont. We are looking forward to our partnership with Rite Aid Foundation and the opportunities that KidCents brings to our organization and the children in our care. It’s truly remarkable the impact rounding up purchases can make,” Fine said. Established in 1894, Kurn Hattin Homes for Children is a charitable home and school for children, ages 6-15, who are affected by tragedy, social or economic hardship, or other disruption in family life. Its mission: Kurn Hattin transforms the lives of children and their families forever. www.kurnhattin.org.

Rite Aid created KidCents so that their customers could share their passion when it comes to giving back to the community. By shopping at Rite Aid and rounding up their purchases, customers can easily make a meaningful difference in the lives of kids right in their own community. To participate, Rite Aid customers can sign into their wellness+ account at www.kidcents.com and review the profiles of approved KidCents charities they can choose to support. Each charity profile features information about the organization and the services it provides as well as stories of those helped by the organization. Once a charity is selected, the next time the customer shops at Rite Aid, their purchase will be rounded up to the nearest dollar and their change will be designated to their selected charity. KidCents provides an opportunity for people to make small contributions that can create lifelong impacts to the communities they serve. KidCents charities are also eligible to earn a “Step Up” reward; for every $500 a charity raises in contributions through the KidCents program, it will receive a matching donation of $500 from KidCents, up to a maximum of $5,000 throughout the giving term.
