Alumni Association and Kurn Hattin Day
In March of 1914, the Kurn Hattin alumni association was formed to find and bring together students who had called Kurn Hattin “home.” The first President was Elisha W. Culver of Massachusetts, Class of 1912. Although it was difficult to locate some of the older graduates back in 1914, the Association was able to find, through letters and magazine articles, over 50 graduates of the Homes.
The Association promotes fellowship among the students to bring them together at least once every year for a “coming home.” Over 6,000 children have attended Kurn Hattin Homes, and once a year on Kurn Hattin Day, a day in May set aside for the alumni to come together, alums renew old acquaintances, and hold reunions and gatherings.
Kurn Hattin Day, a tradition for over 30 years, is also when students, alumni, and staff come together to welcome donors to Kurn Hattin, to share stories and memories, to tour campus, and to enjoy lunch together – all followed by a fabulous performance by the children. The Annual Alumni Association Meeting is generally held in the morning prior to the luncheon and performance. Kurn Hattin Day is a lovely day for all to gather and celebrate the Homes and the joy in being a part of its mission.

"We know even after we leave here, if we need help we can ask anyone who works here at Kurn Hattin and get assistance. Kurn Hattin has been a home to teach us to do the best we can, while giving us opportunities we would have never had before. Kurn Hattin showed me I could change; I can be who I want to be."
~ Gabrielle Knight, Class of 2010 Valedictorian
